On Monday, as part of their World Around Us topic, the P5 class welcomed Mark to their classroom. Mark is from the War Museum in Belfast and specialises in all things World War II.
He taught the children all about the war coming to our shores, and how it impacted places like Belfast and Newcastle. We looked at many World War II artefacts, like special helmets members of the ARP had to carry. We also saw gas masks specifically for babies, blackout restrictions, identity cards and newspaper articles and photographs from that time.
The children were fascinated and Mark was blown away by their interest, questions and knowledge.
