St Josephs Primary School Carnacavill

Assembly 29.04.26

29th Apr 2026

At assembly this week we celebrated our school basketball team from Primary 6 & 7. They attended the Junior NBA League in Belfast along with 18 other schools. Our school team competed exceptionally well on the day and came out on top as the overall winners! They very proudly displayed their medals and flashy rings for everyone to see. Congratulations!

Other achievements throughout the school this week were also acknowledged.

Oisin from Primary 5 who is goalkeeper for his team at Newcastle Town FC was awarded player of the week. He brought his trophy in for us all to see. Well done!

Bear from Primary 1 presented a fantastic trophy for Kickboxing achievements. He proudly displayed it with his team mate Odhrán.

Mya from Primary 2, Adam from Primary 2 and Grace from Primary 6 were acknowledged for their achievements in Ju-jitsu. We were able to see their certificates and belts. Amazing!

Clara and Noah from Primary 5 took part in Newry Feis as part of their Speech and Drama club. Both were awarded for their poetry skills. What a wonderful accomplishment.

Primary 7 Glenavon footballer Conor, competed in the Mid Ulster Cup Final on Saturday.  Unfortunately the result did not go his way, however he is pictured with his runner up trophy.  A great achievement to reach the final and well done Conor.

Louis from Primary 7 was selected to represent Co Down during the half time game at the quarter final of the Ulster Championship against Donegal last weekend. Louis scored 2 goals and Co Down were winners all round on the day. Well done! We are so proud of you for representing both our county and our school.

As always, we celebrated our Pupils and Stars of the week. Well done to everyone for all your hard work!
