Assembly 17.06.26
Primary 7 attended their last ever assembly at St. Joseph’s Primary School. Mr McCann commended the class on their time at St. Joseph’s and we all wish them the best in their next adventure at their new schools!
This week at assembly we had a lot to celebrate both inside and outside of school.
Liam from Centra in Newcastle visited today to present a cash prize to the school. Hayley from Reception and Cadain from Primary 4 won a recent competition and this was an additional prize for the school as a whole. Thank you to Centra and well done again to Hayley and Cadain.
Olly from Primary 4 donated £50 from his Holy Communion money to Evora Hospice in Newry. We are very proud of your kindness and generosity to a wonderful charity.
Our Irish Dancers, Netballers and Gymnasts have been very busy in recent weeks outside of school and Fiadh from Primary 2 recently took part in a 5km race in Downpatrick. We had lots of medals and trophies on display today from a number of children throughout the school. Well done girls!
Ollie, Ethan and Ryan from Primary 7 took part in a local school tennis competition and they came second place. Well done!
GAA sports have been busy in school. Primary 6 and 7 boys took part in Jarlath Carey Memorial Blitz and the team were winners on the day. Well done! School County Final 9 a side competition took place on Saturday. While it didn’t turn out to be their day, it was a huge achievement to get to this point and the boys should be very proud of themselves. Hurling and camogie were introduced to the school in recent years and it has developed tremendously. The players took part in a local competition and our school team won the Gerry Shane Shield. Well done!
We had many stars and pupils of the week. Well done! You all work so hard and are so dedicated. Congratulations!
Birthdays this week are Clara in Reception, Darragh, Leo and Odhran in Primary 5, and Emer in Primary 6. Happy birthday to you all!
