Assembly 16.06.25
Our last assembly of the year!
Freya Brown in P6 sported some impressive silver ware from the Newcastle Irish Dancing Feis! Well done, Freya. It is clear you have an impressive talent when dancing. Many younger dancers also attended the same feis and came jingling with many medals. Congratulations, to all our dancers.
Lecale swimmers also recently competed in a league, they were so successful that they won the whole competition. This is only the second time Lecale has won this accolade, so clearly a very impressive achievement for all our swimmers. Well done, everyone.
Maria and Sophia Barr also recently competed in a triathlon. They completed a 100m swim, a 2k cycle and a 1k run. This is an incredible achievement for a 10-year-old and an 8-year-old. We are astonished at your dedication girls.
Newcastle Town FC also recently competed in an u11 tournament, and they managed to win the shield! Congratulations, boys - it would seem you are a part of a very impressive team.
The school football team also recently played at Donard Park. They put up a very good battle in a tournament and represented our school brilliantly. Mr McCann was so impressed with your dedication and sportsmanship.
The boys Gaelic team also played in a recent tournament. The boys were narrowly beaten but managed to make it to the final four in the county. A brilliant achievement. Well done, boys - you should be very proud of yourselves.
Similarly, the girls Gaelic team also played in a recent tournament. They were unfortunately beaten in the semi-final. Although, it was clear that the girls were very motivated throughout their games and represented our school brilliantly.
Thank you to all the staff who help with our GAA teams, your commitment is much appreciated.
There was also a recent tennis tournament. Some P6 and P7 boys attended with Mrs Flanigan, where they won the shield. Congratulations, Ryan, Jack and Darragh.
The Jarlath Carey memorial tournament took place recently. Our Gaelic team were invited, and they amazingly won the competition for the second year in a row. Congratulations, boys!
Phoebe Murray was noted for her basketball achievements. She is a part of a team that recently won a competition in Belfast. Phoebe has shown real dedication to basketball this year, taking part in our after-school club every week. Well done, Phoebe - you are reaping the rewards of your commitment.
